About the Baptismal Process

:: Place of Baptism and Parish Registration
It is necessary that the Baptism take place in the parish where you are registered.  A registration form to become a parishioner is available with the bastimal registration packet, which can be picked up from the Parish Office.  This will enable us to register you, if you are not currently registered, or update the files if you are already registered.  If you are registered at another parish, a standard authorization letter from the parish will be needed.  Please contact a coordinator for further information.

:: Classes
We would like you to arrive at 7:15 p.m. on the night of class so that we can begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.  We usually finish by 9 p.m.  Both parents are required to attend the two meetings and both godparents are required to attend the second meeting.  If unable to attend class at St. Luke, you may attend at another parish and provide proof of attendance.

The sacrament of Baptism is a wonderful beginning for the spiritual life of your child.  We request that parents and godparents get a baby-sitter for the evening.  This may be your only time without distractions to focus on the reasons you have chosen Baptism for your child and how you can raise your child in a Christ-centered family.

:: Godparent Requirements
The Church requires that at least one godparent (Sponsor) be a practicing Catholic, at least 16 years of age, Confirmed, and, if married, is married in the Church.  The other godparent can be a fully initiated Catholic (sponsor) or a professed Christian (Christian Witness).  If unable to attend class at St. Luke, they may attend class in their local parish and provide proof of attendance.
