Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself…
A: I grew
up in the San Gabriel Valley, Valinda, Hacienda Heights and Glendora. I am married for twenty five years and the mother
of four children.
Q: When did you feel that this was your calling?
A: Initially I became involved with Religious Education out of necessity. At the time I was a stay-at-home
mom. After being involved as an Aide in the classroom, I was encouraged to become a catechist. Working with the
parents in preparing their children to receive the sacraments, and seeing those faces at the celebrations. It was at
one of these celebrations that I knew this was my calling.
Q: What
interested you in St. Luke the Evangelist?
A: Two of my good friends grew up as members of St. Luke's community.
They spoke so highly of their experiences. So when I was informed of the DRE position opening, it was an easy decision
to apply.
Q: What do you hope to bring to our SRE programs?
A:
I hope to enhance the ministry programs already in place here at St. Luke's.
Q: What is your experience with Religious Education?
A: I have been involved with
Religious Educatrion for the past seventeen years. Frist as an aide in the classroom for four years. Then as a
catechist for eight years in the Sacramental preparation programs. For the past seven years I have held the position
as Coordinator of Religious Education. Before coming here, attending various formation and specialization classes offered.
I am presently enrolled in the Master Catechist program.
Q: What
new events do you have in the works for the SRE program that we can look forward to?
A: Right now I am focused
on becoming acquainted with the people and parish of St. Luke's. I do have some ideas for various events, but nothing
concrete at this time.
