PARISH MISSION 2010
(October
2010)- A major Parish Event! Redemptorist Missionary Father Dave Tobin CSsR will be here October 4-6, 2010, to conduct our
Parish Mission. Fr. Tobin was raised in San Diego and is stationed in Berkeley, California. The Parish Mission serves
to educate Catholics and non-Catholics about the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church.
-
A Parish Mission stands alone in excellence when it comes to providing a
backdrop on concentrated information and instruction which one can use to take inventory of his or her life. To our knowledge
there is no easier way to re-examine the basic elements of the Catholic life than a Parish Mission.
-
Discussion/Questions to be included in the Parish Mission:
-Why are Catholics ashamed of our religion?
-Are all religions/churches the
same?
-What is sin? Has sin changed or just our understanding of it?
-Am I responsible for my children leaving the
church?
-Why priests, bishops, popes teach differently?
-Why do we have scandals in the church?
-What is the
teaching on sexuality, marriage, and divorce?
-Are our sins really forgiven in confession?
-Who started confession?
-
We hope that everyone in our parish will
attend all three nights and that you’ll invite three people: friends, neighbors, fallen-away or non-Catholics to come
with you. This Parish Mission is for everyone! There will be morning mission services in the church after the 9:00 A.M.
Mass, and an evening mission service from 7-9:00 P.M each day-Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, October 4-6. There will
be a Penitential Service the last night of the Parish Mission. Everyone has the freedom to leave the service at any
time.
